Shelter Staff
Name: William Brent Mark
Position: Vice-President
Description: Hi Everyone!
I am the meanie of the group. I have to tell my Mother she can't have every single dog in every single shelter that she wants! Mom is a very loving and generous person. She has more love to give these pups than anyone and she treats them better than they have probably ever been treated before.
I am happy that this rescue's core group is family. We used to have BBQ's, now we have adoption events, Board Meetings, and price comparing shopping. That's okay because we are a family and this is a family with a mission! We are happy to work and play together. Sometimes it's stressful, but what isn't these days? I have to be the voice of reason in the group. If I turned Mom and Peg loose, hard telling what they'd get into.
I am the webmaster of this site that I created myself. I like to write the code and rewrite the code till I'm happy with the site. So, don't be suprised if the site continues to grow and expand. If you have any ideas, thoughts or suggestions that you would like to see on the site, please let me know. This site isn't for us, it's for you!

Description: HI Everyone!
I am the Founder/President of the rescue. I have been involved with rescue forsix years now and still loving it. Oh, yes, there are days when I think "why do I do this?" and then a puppy or dog will come to me and give me kisses and then I remember why I do this! There are happy days and sad days. Yes, I still cry when a puppy gets ill and does not make it. I work very close with my vets to make sure one and all get the care they need while with us. No, we are by far not perfect and once in a while a puppy gets adopted and then gets sick for the new family. We all feel really bad and wish it would never have happened, but we can not predict the future or any illnesses that could arise.

I started out by fostering for another rescue and when the price of gas got so high it was costing me a lot to travel to all the vet appointments and adoption events, my husband suggested I start my own rescue group here in our area. I was a little leery about it at first. I wondered where we would get the dogs and puppies to help in our small community, but to my surprise there are more than enough to keep our rescue full at all times. So here we are and loving every dog and puppy that comes to us. Yes once in awhile I get one that just does not click with me but we manage to get along while they are in foster care.

A little about me: I am married to a wonderful husband, who without him I could not do this. He is my soul mate and best friend. I have one son Brent who is also involved in the rescue. It's kind of a family thing, you know the old saying 'the family that plays together stays together' well this is our togetherness. He has a fiance who is also involved Peg, who has two children Meg and Kate. Meg is my right hand most weekends. My hobbies if I ever find time is woodworking. I have yard art for just about every holiday. I love ceramics but lately never seem to have time for it. I am a pack rat. I don't like to throw anything away, I might use it two years down the road. OH YEAH, we have five fur babies of our own! They are our babies Makinzie aka BUD, chow/collie mix. She is 15 now but will be turning 16 in March. She has been with me since she was about a year old. Then came Sassy aka Turbo who is a pug/terrier mix. She turned 8 in September and our newest addition is Abby aka AbbaGabber, she is a chow/golden retriever, she is around two years old. We also have a gray and white cat, Jasmine aka Fat Cat, she is a gray and white long haired cat. I can not forget my bunny, his name is fuzzy bunny, he is white with gray highlights.

UPDATE: Since I wrote this we have had some great sadness in our lives, we lost our beloved Makinzie in Feb of 2010, she was 18 years old and we had to make a decision we had hoped we would never have to make, but her back legs gave out and we just could not bear to watch her suffer just because we were not ready to say good-bye. She was strong willed and our vet said her body was ready to retire but her mind and devotion to us was not ready to say good bye, so it was even harder on us, that she just did not want to give up. I am crying as I write this as you could say she was my first rescue, we adopted her from the local dog pound on the day she was to be pu to sleep.

On a little happier note, hubby found his german shepherd that he has always wanted, a few bad habits came along with him, but slowly he is learning right from wrong. But we love him all the same. He also was a rescue. We have also added two birds a cockateil named Pearl and a finch named Harriet. Will be looking to add to my love of birds soon.
